KIDS IN ACTION - LEARN TO SWIM PROGRAM

The primary reason for learning to swim is safety. Other benefits include physical fitness, social venue, and competitive opportunities.

Kids in Action is dedicated to teaching swimming in a fun but challenging environment. Each student is encouraged to progress at his or her on rate. We recognize that individuals enter our program with varying degrees of readiness and therefore will progress at different rates. We focus on completion of skill sets and progression through the program. No one fails. Some just progress on to the next level a little faster than others.

We find swimmers get the most out of every lesson by following these guidelines:

  • Come to class well rested
  • Arrive a few minutes early to adjust to the environment
  • Come to class with proper attire on (swim suit, goggles, hair secured)
  • Have positive talks about swimming, at home
  • Practice regularly with a friend (includes play time in the water)
  • Do not interact with parents/guardians during class time

Kids in Action appreciates the opportunity to work with your swimmer and hopes you will have years of fond memories of your experience.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

Kids in Action swim lessons strive to promote safe fun activity in aquatic environments. All instructors are American Red Cross certified as Water Safety Instructors and/or Lifeguards. Swim classes have been adapted from American Red Cross guidelines. American Red Cross safety guidelines are followed.

Classes include a child's first experience in swim lessons, stroke development, competitive skills, and water safety.

All classes are small with an instructor/student ratio of no more than 1/3. Skills are taught in an age appropriate manner. Classes can be offered to older children and adults as need arises.

Classes are 30 minutes each.

Progress reports will be given to students on the last day of class. These reports indicate skills completed and skills that still need work in order to register for the next level. No child is ever made to feel they "fail" if they don't progress to the next level at the end of the session. Learning to swim is unique to each individual. It is not uncommon for a child to repeat a particular class before progressing to the next level. The important thing to remember is that they are learning valuable lifetime skills. Moving a child to the next level before they are ready sets them up for a stressful situation in which they feel inadequate and scared.

It is impossible to make up missed classes as we adhere to our instructor/student ratio. Classes will only be made up if the class is cancelled by KIA. There will be a $20 fee for class cancellation. Class fees are non-refundable after the first lesson.

Each student should come to class in their swim suit, preferably with goggles (we can assist with your purchase of these), and a smile. Make sure each student goes to the bathroom just before class even if they say they don't need to. Water pressure and excitement increase the likelihood that they will need to get out of class to go to the restroom. If your young child needs to go to the restroom during class you will need to take them. Our instructors cannot leave other children unaccompanied in the water.

Students with fevers, throwing up, or with diarrhea should not attend swim class.

Cost $80.00 PER STUDENT

CLASSES ARE FOR LEGACY PARK RESIDENTS ONLY - NON-RESIDENTS NOT PERMITTED
